Monkeysoft Window 2006 - Not to be confused
with LINUX, MAC OS X, or that one Bill Gates
makes - you know, the one with the adverts with
little kids in 'em learning stuff.  Windows I  think
it's called.  We're none of those.
Introduction
Do you get annoyed when software doesn't live up to the marketing hype?  Do
you think there is not enough software around that is certified coded by
monkeys?  Regardless of the computer or operating system you currently use,
you can benefit from the wonder that is Monkeysoft Window 2006.
Our Goal
We at Monkeysoft wanted to produce useful software that was user friendly,
universally compatible, and mostly coded by monkeys.  Unfortunately, the
monkey is still pretty preoccupied with the Rubik's Revenge he has found, so it
was difficult to get much work out of him.  Undeterred, we did what any
successful company would do and slapped something together we could rush
out the door, with a vague promise of 'updates' at some indeterminate time in
the future.  We still feel we're living up to the marketing hype, for the simple
reason that there hasn't been any.
What Monkeysoft Window 2006 Does
Our product does exactly what it says it does - it simply turns your existing
computer screen into a transparent window*.  It does not matter if you are using
a Mac or PC, Windows, LINUX, whatever it is that Macs use or some other
groovy interface you coded yourself.  As long as your OS has some sort of
graphical user interface, were pretty sure we can accommodate you.  In case
you are not clear about what we mean by turning your screen into a window,
have a look at the screen-shots below:
*As with so much of this site, not really.
Monkeysoft Window 2006 (small
Edition) makes your desktop into a
window!
Contrast controls allow for
adjustment on bright days!
Note:
Small monkey not included.  Any damage caused
to your hardware by a small monkey climbing on it is
your own problem.  Always get your monkey to wear
a helmet and use a suitable climbing harness.  This
monkey is a specially trained stunt monkey; do not
let your monkey try this at home.
Monkeysoft Window 2006 is an open source product that will be completely free to
you, our loyal customers.  Get the Source Code, free of charge,

Disclaimer (more of a rant really):
Copyright law in an interesting area, with many complications.  For instance, many people think
that as long as you are not making any money, you can do whatever you like with other people's
logos; this is not the case.  It is still possible to violate copyright by deliberately defaming a
company, or by attempting to pass-off a product as produced by a certain company, when in fact it
is not.

We at Small Monkey Productions have clearly modified a Microsoft logo, but have done so with the
sole aim of being amusing.  What we have
not done, we feel, is attempted to mislead the general
public that our product is related to those made by another company, or defamed them in any way.
We haven't really even attempted to convince anyone that we have a product at all, especially if you
have read the rest of the site.  We are hoping that this will stop anyone from suing us.  In case it is
not absolutely clear -
THIS IS NOT A MICROSOFT PRODUCT.  If you genuinely, hand-on-heart
thought it was, our humble opinion is that you are so stupid we are amazed you managed to turn
on a computer and browse all the way here without electrocuting yourself.  You should probably
quit whilst you are ahead.

We certainly don't think we are defaming anyone.  Lets think about this a minute; where did we get
that logo?  It came from the computer we are writing this site on - which uses Windows XP (as well
as a host of other
Microsoft products).  We use this software because, by and large, it works.  It
fulfils the expectations we have of it.  We use it for the same reason we use
Adobe Premiere, Real
Player, or any of the other stuff on our system - it works as we require it to.  We know of no higher
recommendation we can give; this is what we use.  Of course, in recent years it has become
"trendy" to slam Microsoft (and other successful corporations) for being a "huge company" with "too
much money" and "software that crashes".  Really?  So why do the vast majority of computer users
- the vast majority of whom live in free-market capitalist economies - continue to use (and pay for)
the software?  We would suggest it is because it works, that's why.  If you want to claim there are
no alternatives, we will call you lazy;  if you argue that your place of work forces you to use inferior
software, we will ask why you work for a company whose judgement you question every day.  How
do you think Bill got all that money?  Did he break into your house and steal it?  No, it came from
software that users paid for, plain and simple.

Don't get us wrong, nothing is perfect; we use                               over Internet Explorer and
rather than Outlook, and cordially suggest you do the same, but we think we
are grown-up enough to be able to say that actually, in the vast majority of cases Microsoft software
does what we need it to.  Small Monkey Productions does not jump on band-wagons, we analyse
the facts and make our own judgements.  We don't even want people jumping on
our bandwagon;
all we ask is that you think before you parrot mindless hackneyed phrases without any
consideration or thought of your own.  And be big enough to give credit where it is due, even if you
do have to start a sentence with "and" to make the point.
