It has come to the attention of the Small Monkey that 'Carbon Dioxide Emissions' (whatever the
hell they are), are pretty much top of the list when it comes to various Governments
hammering legitimate motorists for epic amounts of superfluous taxation.
The theory goes like this, in as much as you can call such idiocy a theory:
1. Carbon Dioxide keeps heat in the atmosphere.
2. The Earth is getting warmer, which is bad.
3. Cars produce carbon dioxide in exhaust fumes.
4. Therefore, motorists should fund politicians' holiday homes through excessive taxation.
There are so many holes in this, the argument makes a colander look air tight. We'll doubtless
come onto the whole 'global warming' thing soon (monkeys are jungle creatures; we know
more about the climate than you might think).

Yes, that's right, your catalytic converter is taking small amounts of carbon monoxide, which
would cause pretty much zero harm to anyone whose lungs weren't physically welded to your
exhaust, and turning it into carbon dioxide. It is doing so at the legislative insistence of your
Government. Then, having insisted that your car has a 'cat', your local friendly Government is
now (very likely) taxing you based on the fact it produces carbon dioxide.
